A Presence is what he was trying to make, but he didn't entirely understand what it was or how to make one. He's fumbling in the dark. So he has focused on the capacity of the Presence more than its nature. He would think of it as a failed product even if he encountered Dross directly, because Dross doesn't have the limitless store of knowledge or processing capacity of one of the Abidan Presences.

I intended for Lindon to keep the axe, but I wrote several versions of that scene, and it looks like I left that out. Oversight on my part, sorry. I'm already preparing a file with a bunch of typo corrections, but I didn't know if adding a line might be too much of a change.

All aspects of madra are essentially human interpretations of aura. You might notice a unique blend of aura around a computer, and you could break it down into storm aura and dream aura or what have you, or perhaps you could find a way to cycle it into your own madra and create what you called a "computer Path."

Necromancy in Elder Empire: yes, it is possible. It's not possible to invest or Awaken living things, but it is possible once they are dead, and one of the most difficult feats is Awakening them to a semblance of life.

The Cradle equivalent of necromancy is using corpses as puppets. High-level ones retain a sliver of their power.

Monarch-level items could be worn by anyone, but anyone too far beneath them wouldn't be able to activate the binding. You haven't seen Yerin do anything cool with the Sword Sage's sword for the same reason.

It depends. Sometimes I have a cool idea and write it down and look for a place to use it later, but most of the time I kind of make it up off the top of my head as I need it.
