Will those powers eventually affect Yerin or will she be able to access them as she advances?
Maybe, maybe not!
So, had this weird dream where I read a Will released a post saying he was "So sorry" to his fans. He was sorry because he was releasing Underlord and still hadn't released OK&K's.
That would be weird if I hadn’t already done it...
...five times.
By now, there’s nothing weird about that at all.
How will Lindon act the first time he meets someone weaker then him? While Lindon has gotten to what I would call half-iron (his cores are half the size they should be so he levels them up faster then he normal would, and only one avenged to iron) and that makes him stronger then most people his age in the Sacred Valley. Knowing that and meeting them while stronger then them are different. I bring this up because out side of a few people everyone we have met seems to have no trouble "bullying" those weaker then themselves. I know this is a might makes right society but still part of the honor of that system is to ingore/protect those weaker then you. If you only follow those "laws" when other are watching you then that's not honor its saving face. When will we meet people who follow these codes of conduct not for themselves or for "face" but because they believe in them?
This is 100% a spoiler.
In Ghostwater, Orthos mentioned that there were Paths that take in the power of natural spirits, can you tell us more about them?
Unfortunately, this is a question that would take me too much effort to answer. Someday I'll do one of those "Ask me a world-building question, and I'll make up an answer!" things again, and this would be a good question for that time. It's a great question, it would just take me too long to make up an answer. Sorry!
I was doing some very important research, and I noticed that none of the cradle books contain the number 'Nineteen' I would like to ask what you have against this magnificent, and very important number?
Shouldn't they? Don't I have a Chapter Nineteen in some of them?
Do cores convert a Sacred Artist's physical mass into madra, to create more madra?
Pure madra is actually generated by the way the human body processes life aura and blood aura. It really is the interaction of body, mind, and spirit, in a sense.
So a sacred artist's body is naturally consuming blood, dream, and life aura?
Basically, yeah.
What kind of benefits do Cradlites get for doing that?
The ability to use madra.
How do they make pure scales without those machines from the Desolate Wilds?
They have other ways to do it in the Blackflame Empire, but it’s a similar process. Sometimes they have Foundation kids do it for training.
What path do professional sex workers follow? Are they in a house and ranked like the janitors?
Prostitutes often follow dream Paths, because dream madra can be used to alter appearances, induce emotions, and even find potential customers. In the Blackflame Empire, they are of course ranked. Everything is ranked. The top brothel is The Court of Roses, which caters to members of the royal family and influential clan leaders. The number one courtesan in the Court of Roses is Haru Mei, a woman on the Path of Twining Vines. She cycles aura of life and dreams, in a strange combination that helps her sense what others are feeling and manipulate those sensations.
Is Lindon left-handed or right-handed?
Right-handed, unfortunately.
Ok will I need to know how old is Lindon and what is his birthday is
Also how Long is a day on cradle, a month on cradle, and a year on cradle
As for the time on Cradle, it's the same time as ours. Why? Because it's easier to tell the story that way. I don't want you to have to remember custom details for how long times or distances are.
So they're all the standard measurements.
Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure Lindon is eighteen now. He doesn't have a birthday, so to speak. In Sacred Valley, they count every child's age up a year each new year.
This would be a longer one, but any chance we could (someday) get a primer on how and why "internal" vital aura aspects operate differently than others? Such as blood and dream aura, which non-blood/dream madra shouldn't be able to affect, but the spirit somehow defends against Ruler techniques of them since Blood artists can't go around giving Lords heart attacks willy nilly.
Maybe someday?
Are there any sacred beasts (besides dragons) that could go toe-to-toe with a Monarch or a Dreadgod?
There's Juwei, the Ghostwalker Fox, who has tricked Monarchs and escaped. There's a single Monarch-level dragon--known by some as the god of the desert--who has a centuries-old feud with Northstrider. There's Nightsong, the musician on the Path of the Moonlit Flute, who is either a sacred beast herself or has strong inhuman blood.
Im starting to realize you cant kill Suriel. Anything you throw at her she can banish it. I guess Suriel is too strong. I wonder whst Path she follows.................
Well, she's immortal.
That said, there are entities that threaten her and the rest of the Abidan, but at that point you're dealing with specific power interactions. She draws her power from the Way, the force of pure order that keeps time, space, and reality in the universe on track. There are beings that draw from pure chaos, disrupting that order. There are also entities that could cut off her access to the Way, or out-predict and maneuver her into a situation where she could be destroyed.
...but all that comes in later books.
Does Lindon need to cycle aura/madra specifically for dross or can dross live off of pure madra (follow up Q:So dross can be sustained off if blackflame madra?)
Dross can live off his pure madra.. In fact, Dross lives off his connection to Lindon, so his madra wouldn't even need to be pure. Dross is tied to Lindon's spirit now. As long as Lindon is healthy, so is Dross.
Are there any madra viruses in cradle? Like the same way a virus in real life is basically a random peice of DNA which uses cells to replicate itself, are there techniques which implant themselves in someone’s spirit and force a copy of themselves? And if so, would they differ by stage and advancement?
There are techniques like this, but they aren't as overpowered as you might think thanks to a simple rule: your own spirit is sovereign within your body.
It's the same reason why a water or blood artist wouldn't just stop your heart instantly. They can't. Your spirit is far stronger inside your body than anyone else's madra.
You can overcome that by a huge difference in power: a Herald could stop a thousand Underlords' hearts all at once. But techniques that insert themselves into enemies' bodies tend to degrade very quickly and do limited damage.
I forget exactly how Monarchs are restricted from advancing further without leaving Cradle(Abidan just threaten to kill them? Or there's some kind of force preventing it?) but is Ghostwater basically Northstrider trying to get around the restrictions by making his power use more effective than other Monarchs rather than just advancing?
The restrictions on Monarchs haven’t been explored yet.
What are wraiths like in cradle
They're not something you'd want to picnic on a beach with.
I'm still turning over the line the Beast King had about "two golds he put to a task (mercy and Yerin)." Not sure if I missed something, Will missed something, or it's actually a secret and we didn't notice him influence them. Aside from that, it was the best book in the series for me.
It was meant to imply that the beasts they kept having to run around were in fact meant to steer their path and guide the conflict, but I recognize that was too vague. I cut some of the scenes that would have clarified that.I might just change his line in future editions.
Or is Yerin still gross and scary to Little Blue?
No. Her hatred and fear has only grown. Soon she will evolve into a Yerin-devouring monster.
Not sure if this has been answered already, but does madra regeneration get affected by the size/depth/whatever HEPW embiggens of a core? Eg does Eithan take the same time to refill his oversized core as any other Underlord given identical conditions or does he have to wait a proportionally longer time for his madra to refill?
A bigger core takes proportionally longer to refill. Someone else asked how Eithan refills it. Good question! Unless I cut the scene, you find out in Underlord.
